What's Your Inspiration?

Here in the South, we are having a Spring teaser day. It's sunny, a warm 62 degrees, and I'm inspired by the yellow sunshine and the blue skies. In just a few weeks, we'll be adding green to the mix. All I can say is, YAAAY!

I've been looking for some inspiration for a beautiful living room that I've recently seen in a house that's on the market. The walls are a warm, golden yellow, and I must confess, not my personal choice. So, I've been trying to come up with a clever color scheme that will work with that color, and not come off as too traditional. I think I've found it.....

So many color possibilities can be pulled from this print. My plan is to pull the blues and grays from this painting and the yellow ties in perfectly with the wall color that is already in place. I can just picture a brown leather chair and ottoman taken from the brown in the painting. I think that will make the man of the house quite happy.

Now take a look at this grouping. Very similar color scheme and would work well in an adjoining room to tie the two together, I'm thinking the kitchen would be a perfect spot for these.

And here is a close up of the four pictures. To me, they are so relaxing and serene, which is just how I like my spaces.

If you're looking to go in a new direction and try a new color palate. Why not use art as a jumping off point? If you keep your big furniture pieces neutral, then it's easy to make a change with a fresh coat of paint and a few new accessories to pull it together. And if you're looking for the artwork shown above, you can find it on www.ballarddesigns.com.
